Welcome

The Pulmonary Fibrosis and Sarcoidosis research group conducts clinical research and “bedside-to-bench" research connecting our findings in the clinic and the research labs. Our group consists of scientists and physician-scientists with diverse and complementary expertise coming together to address unanswered questions in pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis.

Our Members

Ongoing Projects

Personal Response Profiles using patients’ nasal epithelial cells

Our group utilizes nasal epithelial cells collected from patients with pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis to better understand the underlying mechanisms of disease and investigate unique individualized prognostic and diagnostic responses that will assist physicians in the future in the management of their patients.

Air Quality and its impact on pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis

Our group is investigating the impact of air quality on disease course and severity of pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis.

Role of complement in pulmonary fibrosis

Our group is interested in investigating the role of complement, which is a group of molecules important for defense against infection, in the development of pulmonary fibrosis.

Ongoing Projects

Cognitive Dysfunction in Sarcoidosis

Our collaborative group is interested in better understanding the spectrum of cognitive dysfunction in sarcoidosis and the underlying neurobiology leading to cognitive dysfunction in people with sarcoidosis and examine interventions to improve their quality of life.

Biomarkers for cardiac sarcoidosis

In collaboration with a team of national investigators, we are exploring novel blood biomarkers that are unique to patients with heart involvement with sarcoidosis.

Pharmaceutical drug trials

We participate in multi-center randomized drug trials run by pharmaceutical companies investigating new drugs to treat pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis. These drug trials offer our patients access to new investigational treatments to manage pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis.
